Life life to the fullest
I wanted to make a follow up post about fallen friend Jesse Van Davis because I think it’s important to keep memories alive. The original post about Jesse has received a lot of heartfelt comments from friends, family, and even total strangers. I’ve lost some of the closest people to me in my 21 years, including my Dad, but Jesse’s death still knocked the wind out of me considering the nature of his passing. You can read more about Jesse in the Naples Daily News.
The other day I was listening to Plies rap the truth on “One Day,” a stand out track from Definition of Real. Plies’ song speaks on how friends will mourn a fallen comrad one minute, and then the next act like that individual practically never existed. Although laced in what some might call ignorant-speak, Plies message is clear:
“When you first died [your friends] sat around ya momma all day
But since ya funeral [those friends] aint went that fuckin way
Cause when you die, your dawgs suppose to step to the plate
You ain’t gotta worry, I got her, I’ll make sure she straight
Make you question if the love was real or was it fake
Out of sight out of mind I guess it’s true what they say”
I’ll continue to cherish my memories of Jesse and I know others will do the same. R.I.P. JVD
