Dr. Dre lives topless. Listen and you'll understand.
Great song! The beat alone makes me want to do cart wheels. I had no idea T.I. was writing verses for Detox, but I’m not complaining. Nas’ verse is pretty unbelievable, too.
Your skin’s your traveling bag of your existence
Yours is shabby and scabbed while mines glistenin’
-Nas’ first two lines on “Topless”

…It gets no better than this
Amateurs drink veteran piss
From a Dixie cup if you ever mix me up
Or confuse me with a Canibus or Dre with a Dupri
We’ll rub it in, every club you’re in
We’ll have you black-balled and make sure you never rap a-fuckin- gain
-Eminem “Say What You Say”
Back in January, I made a post about how 2008 is going to be one of the best years for commercial hip-hop. No one saw it because back then I wasn’t blogging openly but with upcoming releases from Hip-Hop’s most powerful trio (Dr. Dre, Eminem, and 50 Cent) it looks like I might have been right. Take a look:
There’s new albums coming from the genre’s biggest stars. No seriously, THE biggest stars. The untouchables (Dre/Eminem/50). The Shady/Aftermath empire, more specifically, is dropping 3 MAJOR albums. And don’t forget about Nasty Nas and Lil Weezyana .
Who: Lil Wayne
What: Tha Carter 3
When: First quarter 2008
Why does it matter: One of the most anticipated albums in a while, Weezy is looking to deliver a classic. Will he?Who: Dr. Dre
What: Detox
When: 2008
Why does it matter: It’s the most anticipated album ever…seriously. I would put money on the fact that it will be a classic album. Put 2001 in your stereo and I bet you couldn’t tell it was a 90’s rap album. I’m expecting Detox to have a big impact on the hip hop landscape.Who: Eminem
What: Living Proof: The King Mathers LP (rumored title)
When: 2008
Why does it matter: Em has been keeping quiet, but everything he’s dropped post-Encore has been pretty solid. His appearances on the Shady Records collabo album (The Re-Up) gave me hope that he’s still hungry. Plus, look what’s happened in his life since Encore. Obviously he’s got a lot to talk about. I’m expecting a mature Eminem, and hyped up Slim Shady on this album.Who: Nas
What: Nigger
When: 2008
Why does it matter: Nas has been in great form, and I’m ready to hear some intelligent social commentary from one of the best lyricists alive. I think the title is really offensive, but in a good way. I’m excited for the media’s reception of this album, as well as hearing what he has to say.Who: 50 Cent
What: Before I Self Destruct
When: 2008
Why does it matter: Supposedley 50’s last contractual obligation for Interscope Records, Before I Self Destruct is filled with songs with agressive content. You won’t find Justin Timberlake on this album, just that gritty 50 that won us over as fans back in the mixtape/Get Rich or Die Trying years (2001-2003). I hope!

The first alcoholic beverages out of the deal between Dr. Dre and Drinks America are on their way, so get ready for Aftermath Cognac.
As previously reported, Dre, Interscope Geffen A&M Records and Drinks America formed a partnership earlier this year in which the super producer would help develop and market premium non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. And now, a new cognac in on the way.
According to Billboard.com, Drinks Americas Q4 earnings were released on Monday (August 4) and the company said it would introduce Aftermath Cognac in the next 60 days. The production, supply and European distribution of the cognac will be handled by Abecassis Cognac, a cognac producer.
An 80-proof flavored and unflavored sparkling vodka will follow within 60 days after Aftermath Cognac.
According to the earnings statement, both beverages will be introduced around the same time as Dr. Dre’s long awaited Detox album, as a part of an integrated marketing plan.
The information sounds about right too. Dre said himself last month, via an interview with USA Today, that Detox would be out in “November or December.”

I’ve been waiting on Detox since 2006.
Perhaps a sign of things to come, more and more artists are speaking about their role in Dr. Dre’s alleged upcoming album, Detox. Possibly the most anticipated album in Hip Hop history, the latest artist to speak on the long-awaited album, which is to be released in November or December [click to read], is none other than 50 Cent.
“I recorded material with Dr. Dre for the Detox,” said 50 to MTV News. “It’s great. I want it back. I want the records back,” joked Fif.
50 did indicate, however, that he wants leftover material Dre has. “He has the music. It’s right there in the computer. I stop by [his studio] every time and get something that adds something significant to my project each time [I'm about to put a record out]. And I spend three or four days there. To me, he’s the best producer in the game.
“When I walk in the studio, I record the first [beat] that comes on regardless if I think it’s a hit record or not,” 50 continued. “We get in work mode, get comfortable and go through the material that’s in the computer. Dre always has hit records. Sometimes, artists that need producers, they need someone to create a direction for them musically. I need the jewels he’s just got laying around. He don’t gotta tell me what to do with it. All he has to do is say, ‘Track six.’ Or, ‘Go to track eight.’ He’ll have hits playing there. You just have to get in and get them.”
It’s 50’s guess – just as it is anyone else’s – as to when Dre will finally deem the album ready for release. “Hopefully he’ll get it done and put it out,” he said. “I’m waiting for the Detox. All I can say is, Dr. Dre is the best producer in my eyes. Just the consistency over the years. … He knows what he wants. He’s such a perfectionist that it becomes difficult for him to put it out.“

Dre’s work is done. Now it’s time for Interscope to figure out how to market the next hip-hop classic.
Found this over at USA Today. Here’s what Dr. Dre had to say:
“In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.”
I’ve been expecting Detox since 2006. I’ll believe it when I see it am playing it through my speakers.
