“Swagga Like Us” Grammy Performance Featuring T.I., Jay-Z, Kanye West, & Lil Wayne
February 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment
T.I., Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne performed “Swagga Like Us” at the Grammy’s tonight. I’m a fan of the song minus Jay-Z’s “whippin with the soda” talk. Isn’t he 40? None the less, It’s great to see such a diverse mix of hip-hop entertainers share the stage in front of a national audience. Check out the MTV article about the monumental hip-hop performance.

Will Lil Wayne Win A Grammy? (Vote Here)

"Wonder if I'll win..."
The Grammy’s are on Sunday. I doubt I’ll even watch that snooze fest.
Lil Wayne and Coldplay, please take note: All that glitters isn’t gold. Even if it’s a Grammy Award. Especially if it’s a Grammy.
The U.S. rapper and the U.K. rock band lead nominations for music’s biggest prize show in Los Angeles on Feb. 8. A shiny Grammy would sit nicely on the shelf alongside one’s platinum records, though it isn’t quite what it was — partly because of award inflation.

LIL WAYNE Removes “Playing With Fire” From THA CARTER 3 Over Rolling Stones Lawsuit

Lil Wayne plays with The Rolling Stones
The agreement between Lil Wayne and the Rolling Stones seems pretty reasonable to me. There’s a lesson in all this: clear your samples!
Rapper-turned rocker Lil Wayne settled his copyright lawsuit with the Rolling Stones yesterday over a sample he used for one of his tracks.
According to Billboard Abkco Music Inc, who owns the rights to a portion of the Stones’ catalog, filed a suit in July of last year against UMG recording, Inc. Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. EMI Group, LTD, and other parties, which include Weezy.
In their lawsuit, Abkco stated “Lil Wayne’s song “Playing with Fire” was a clear derivative of the rock band’s song with the original lyrics and music altered in a recognizable way,” reports Reuters.
The track was removed from Tha Carter III and taken off digital download, ringtone and ringback providers prior to the settlement, according to the press release. Additionally the announcement states “all parties expressed themselves satisfied with the amicable settlement.”
