“I Am The Club,”
and “Kept It Too Real.”
Get Definition of Real. My favorite songs on Defintion are “Ol’ Lady” (hilarious song about revenge), “Worth Goin FED Fo” and “Dat Bitch”

Real Videos
Before we get into the countdown, check out the latest Plies review:
XXL Magazine recently reviewed Da REAList and gave Plies’ third album a XL ranking. You can read the full review here.
Not since DMX has a rapper put out three solid LPs in such a short time, so the goon makes good on a tall order. In addition to delivering a slew of radio-ready singles and sexed-up songs, Plies offers substantial selections (like the politically charged “Pants Hang Low” and the industry fuck-off “Heard of Me”).
3. Plies “Gotta Be” [WATCH]
This one of my favorite songs off Da REAList. The bright visuals give this clip a happy feel. It’s definitely not a Hype Williams calibre short, but the visual is bound to attract more listeners.
2. Plies “Street Light” ft. Sean Garrett [WATCH]
I played “Street Light” twice at a party last Friday and it went over real well. This is one of the hottest songs/videos off Da REAList. Sean Garrett kills the hook!
1. Plies “Family Straight” [WATCH]
What rapper has been this honest on a record in the past five years? If you can think of an example, did he/she make a video for the song? Plies is the realest Da REAList.

Hard work pays off
Apparently Plies is dropping his fourth album, titled “REALer Than Usual,” at the end of May. I wonder why other rappers can’t supply their fans like Plies? You always hear about release dates getting pushed back or albums getting shelved indefinitely. Not Plies! Three major albums in 16 months: The Real Testament, Definition of Real, and Da REAList.

Life life to the fullest
I wanted to make a follow up post about fallen friend Jesse Van Davis because I think it’s important to keep memories alive. The original post about Jesse has received a lot of heartfelt comments from friends, family, and even total strangers. I’ve lost some of the closest people to me in my 21 years, including my Dad, but Jesse’s death still knocked the wind out of me considering the nature of his passing. You can read more about Jesse in the Naples Daily News.
The other day I was listening to Plies rap the truth on “One Day,” a stand out track from Definition of Real. Plies’ song speaks on how friends will mourn a fallen comrad one minute, and then the next act like that individual practically never existed. Although laced in what some might call ignorant-speak, Plies message is clear:
“When you first died [your friends] sat around ya momma all day
But since ya funeral [those friends] aint went that fuckin way
Cause when you die, your dawgs suppose to step to the plate
You ain’t gotta worry, I got her, I’ll make sure she straight
Make you question if the love was real or was it fake
Out of sight out of mind I guess it’s true what they say”
I’ll continue to cherish my memories of Jesse and I know others will do the same. R.I.P. JVD
